"Hands
On" Gynaecological Endoscopy
Skills Course for Nurses
With the widespread introduction of "minimally access
surgery", not only in gynaecology but across many
other specialities, the use of increasingly sophisticated
equipment, and the importance of team-work, it
became apparent that there was a need for comparable
information and teaching for nurses involved with
these procedures.
The
aims of the "HANDS ON" GYNAECOLOGICAL ENDOSCOPY
SKILLS COURSE FOR NURSES are to provide the knowledge
to care for patients undergoing endoscopic surgery
both in the operating theatre and the ward, to
learn about the care and maintenance of instrumentation,
and to gain an understanding of potential complications
and their management. There is time for hands-on
practice using models, and the Course also includes
live operating sessions to see theory in practice.
Although the Course is aimed primarily at nurses
involved in gynaecology, it should also be of interest
to those working in other areas of endoscopy.
