"Hands On" Laparoscopic Hysterectomy Workshop

Although laparoscopic hysterectomy is one of the topics covered in the Gynaecological Endoscopy Workshops, time constraints have meant that relatively little time could be devoted to this procedure. With the growing interest in laparoscopic hysterectomy, it was felt that a course dedicated to this procedure alone would be of interest and value.

The aims of the "HANDS ON" LAPAROSCOPIC HYSTERECTOMY WORKSHOPS are to provide the delegates with a practical guide as to which patients are suitable for this procedure, how it can be performed, and what are the pit-falls.

Familiarity with basic laparoscopic techniques is assumed, including the ability to operate under video monitoring. The various techniques for securing the vascular pedicles will be demonstrated during live operating sessions, and there will be the opportunity to perform parts of a laparoscopic hysterectomy. All delegates will be given a DVD recording of the surgery performed during the workshop

The 5 duties of a surgeon

1. To remove what is superflous;
2.To restore what has been dislocated;
3. To separate what has grown together;
4. To reunite what has been divided; and
5. To redress the defects of nature.
