"Hands On" Gynaecological Endoscopy Skills Workshop

The first "HANDS ON" GYNAECOLOGICAL ENDOSCOPY SKILLS WORKSHOP was held in June 1989, and have continued regularly ever since. Our format has changed little through the years and we offer personal, small-group teaching with emphasis on the practical aspects of the subject with as much model and clinical hands-on practice as possible.

The rapid developments in this area has meant that our curriculum is forever increasing. Accordingly, the Workshop has been extended from two to three days to allow us to cover more topics in depth and to give more time for practical training. There is however a strong bias towards electro-surgery and minimal emphasis will be placed on the use of lasers.

Our principle aim is to establish a firm practical basis for many of the endoscopic procedures relevant to gynaecology. It is hoped that by the end of the three days our students will have gained sufficient knowledge, skill and confidence to be, above all, safe surgeons who understand not only the indications for the various procedures but also their own technical limitations. Then, with growing experience they will be able to build on this foundation, perform more complex procedures and become safe and effective endoscopic surgeons. A copy of the CD "Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgery: Movies" will be given to all attendants, together with a DVD of all the surgery carried out during the course.
